Engagement Session at the Dallas Arboretum:
Lauren & Matt’s love blooms
Spring in Dallas is a magical time, especially at the Dallas Arboretum, where vibrant blooms fill the landscape and the air is alive with the promise of new beginnings. For Lauren and Matt, it was the perfect setting to celebrate their love, and I’m so excited to share a few highlights from their beautiful session!
A Weekday Escape
When Lauren reached out about scheduling their engagement session, she shared her desire to avoid the crowds typically found on weekends. We all know that the Dallas Arboretum is a popular spot, especially during the Tulip Festival, and I loved that Lauren had the foresight to choose a weekday. It made all the difference!
On a beautiful weekday morning just after opening, we still had quite the crowds. however I can’t imagine how packed it would be if we had been there on the weekend. Thank goodness for photoshop! The grounds, which were bursting with the most breathtaking tulips in shades of pink, purple, and yellow, were all ours for the taking.
One thing to note about taking photos at the Dallas Arboretum is that surprisingly they don’t open until after 9 and close immediately at 5pm. So if you are in the gardens at 5pm, they will come find you to escort you out. Sadly, this means that you can not do a golden hour session in the spring and your best bet for light is as early as you can get there. This spot above with the water is Absolutley stunning and has so much potential for some really incredible shots, however if you are having the engagement session on a sunny day, this spot will be pretty difficult to shoot at without having extremely backlit images if you are wanting that lake water in the distance.
There’s something undeniably romantic about the Dallas Arboretum when it’s in full bloom. The Tulip Festival brings thousands of vibrant flowers into the landscape, and each path and garden feels like a new chapter of a fairytale. As Lauren and Matt strolled hand-in-hand through the colorful garden paths, it was clear that their connection was just as vibrant as the tulips surrounding them.
We started at one of the iconic spots where the tulips were in full bloom. The vibrant colors created a stunning contrast with the soft, pastel outfits. Lauren and Matt’s natural chemistry made every moment feel effortless as they shared sweet glances and lighthearted laughter. The way Matt would look at Lauren and make a funny face or giggle in response to the silly prompts made Lauren have the purest of laughs and joy—those are the moments I live for as a photographer.
A Beautiful Love Story Begins
As we wrapped up the session, I couldn’t help but feel grateful to have been a part of such a special moment in Lauren and Matt’s journey together. The Dallas Arboretum during the Tulip Festival was the perfect backdrop for their engagement photos, but it was their genuine love and connection that made the images truly unforgettable.
Lauren and Matt’s engagement session was everything we could have hoped for—romantic and full of joy. I can’t wait to see how their love story continues to blossom as they head toward their wedding day!
